Our pets are prominent members of our families. We want to make sure you have all the information for preparation plans.

  • Water. At least three days worth
  • Food. Three days worth stored in an airtight, waterproof container

Some counties have planned for temporary emergency animal shelters but should be used as a last resort. We are responsible for our pets.

During

If you are unable to evacuate with your pets, bring them inside and have newspapers for sanitary purposes. Feed animals moist or canned for, so they need less water to drink.

Ensure now that your pets are up to date on all vaccines and carry a copy of the list of immunizations with you if you need to find a place to keep them safe.

Some recommend having your pets "microchipped" in case you get separated. Keep in mind the average person who finds your pet won't be able to scan for a chip, but they can read a primary tag on collar. So make sure you have an ID tag on their collar.

If you have a rescue sticker alert on your window, make sure it is visible to rescue workers, and that it includes the type of pet and number in the household.

If you must evacuate with your pet, write "EVACUATED" across the sticker, so rescue workers don't waste time looking for them.
